Joel graduated high school in Clarksville, Arkansas, and joined the Army National Guard immediately thereafter. He spent 10 years in the Guard as an air traffic controller and Blackhawk helicopter pilot and was deployed twice to Iraq.
In between and training with the Army, Joel completed his bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics with a minor in business administration from Henderson State University, where he met his wife, Lexie. They moved to Hot Springs after college to start a family. They have three sons, Leo, Cruz and Judah.
In his free time, Joel enjoys hiking, swimming and boating on Lake Ouachita, watching Razorback football, and just spending time with friends and family. Joel and Lexie are also a part of the worship team at their church and are also involved with the VFW in Hot Springs.
